BOOK ON PERUVIAN ORCHIDS IS PRESENTED IN LONDON

'Orchids in INKATERRA Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel'

To mark 20 years of investigation and conservation in situ of their native orchid species, the hotel Inkaterra Machu Picchu launched the book 'Orchids in INKATERRA Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel', which includes an inventory of 372 species of orchids from 80 genera, part of Inkaterra’s conservation programme and new varieties found in the Machu Picchu Historical Sanctuary. The publication also features photographs of 178 native species and paintings by Angela Mirro.

Written by Benjamín Collantes, Machu Picchu, orchid biologist and researcher, and co-written by Carmen Soto, chief resident biologist at Inkaterra Machu Picchu, the book was presented in London by Inkaterra’s founder and chief executive, José Koechlin, who highlighted the natural richness of the site and the importance of its conservation, through scientific investigation, and its diffusion around the world. The presentation was followed by a short talk given by Dr. Henry Oakley, President of the Orchid Society of Great Britain.

'Orchids in INKATERRA Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel' book can be bought from the American Orchid Society (www.aos.org)
