Rodolfo Cavero was born in Ancash, Peru. He moved to France at the invitation of the French Government in 1987, having been a prizewinner in the international singing competition “l’Air du temps”. He commenced his musical studies at the Schola Cantorum then at the Ateliers de la Chanson in Paris whilst continuing to study law, and subsequently entered the Conservatoire Hector Berlioz. Rodolfo has studied under Denise Aignerelle and Christiane Patard in Paris, Vera Rozsa in London and Anna Maria Bicciato in Treviso, Italy.
He has won numerous awards, including first prize in the Léopold Bellan competition, a Bourse de Lauréat from La Fondation Charles Oulmont and two prizes for Lyric Art and Oratorio in the international competition L’Union Professionnelle des Maîtres du Chant Français. |

Rodolfo’s repertoire includes Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Nadir (Les Pêcheurs de Perles), Remendado (Carmen), Ferrando (Così fan tutte) and Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore) as well as the major bel canto tenor arias by Bellini, Donizetti and Mozart. Rodolfo is also known for his interpretation of many popular songs and melodies, in particular traditional songs from Latin America (Besame mucho, Amapola, Cuando caliente el sol) which he has performed on numerous occasions.
In France, Rodolfo has sung frequently with Opéra Eclaté and at both the Chorégies d’Orange and the Festival de Saint-Ceré, as well as touring France in productions of Mozart’s La flûte enchantée and Offenbach’s La Vie Parisienne.
In addition, Rodolfo performs regularly in recital. He has sung throughout France and in Cork, Ireland with Irish soprano Cara O’Sullivan, accompanied by Phillip Thomas. He was invited to Zimbabwe to perform at the Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA) where he participated in an Opera Gala and also gave a solo recital of Latin American songs. He has sung at the Opera House in Manaus, Brazil and the Teatro pro Arte Lirico in Havana, Cuba as part of a tour of the Amazon and the Caribbean. In London he has performed at the National Portrait Gallery and at a Gala for the New Israeli Opera. In 1999 he appeared with Sir Cliff Richard for twelve nights at the Royal Albert Hall to great public acclaim.
Rodolfo is currently engaged as a member of the Opéra Comique in Paris where his solo roles have included Coryphée in Rossini’s Le Comte Ory and Ferrando in Così fan tutte. He also performs regularly at both the Opéra Bastille and the Opéra Garnier in Paris.
