The British-Peruvian Trade and Investment Group (TIG) is an important mechanism for the promotion of bilateral economic and commercial relations between the two countries.  Chaired by Richard Ralph, a former British Ambassador to Peru (2003-06), it is closely affiliated with the Embassy of Peru in the UK and its Trade and Investment Section.  The Peruvian Ambassador is Honorary President and Viscount Montgomery of Alamein is its Honorary Vice President.

The TIG brings together business representatives, investors, analysts, corporate members and others who are interested in promoting business opportunities between Peru and the UK. It was started in 1997 and has grown substantially in the last ten years, helping enhance economic relations between both countries. The current network of TIG members now stands at 118.

The TIG holds several meetings a year at regular intervals, at which presentations and briefings are given by specialists on key themes such as economic outlook, financial services, the extractive industries, pharmaceuticals, tourism, agro-industry, etc. It does not have formal membership or charge any form of membership fees. It is essentially geared at individuals who have a strong interest in developing further British-Peruvian economic ties.

The TIG is collaborating increasingly closely with the British-Peruvian Chamber of Commerce in Lima, which also generously publishes news of TIG events in the magazine “Oportunidades”. The group would encourage any members of the BPCC who are visiting London to make contact, avail themselves of the TIG network, and attend TIG meetings.
