“Investment to Achieve Well-being, Sustainable Development and Inclusión” has been chosen as the theme for this business summit because these are seen as primary goals of the regions’ common agenda:
The pursuit of well-being, - consolidating and strengthening democracy, institutions and public safety; furthering universal access to education, health and basic public sanitation; promoting access to new information and communication technologies; and fighting transnational organized crime.
Sustainable development - paying special attention to climate changes and natural disasters, conservation of the environment and biodiversity for future generations, use of clean and renewable energies, building infrastructure, promotion of employment, commerce and investment under conditions which provide legal certainty, and cooperation for countries with lower relative development and average income.
Social inclusion, - supporting the fight against poverty, promoting respect of equal rights and conditions for women, children and the disabled, encouraging job training and furthering State reform, transparency and the fight against corruption.
